About ErgoLife Foundation

A 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to ending the sedentary crisis through education, research, and community programs that help people sit better, move more, and live without chronic pain.

What We Believe

The average American sits for over 10 hours a day—at desks, in cars, on couches—in positions that were never meant to be sustained for long periods. The result is a growing epidemic of chronic back pain, poor posture, and preventable musculoskeletal conditions that affect hundreds of millions of people worldwide. According to the World Health Organization, physical inactivity is the fourth leading risk factor for global mortality, contributing to approximately 3.2 million deaths each year. Yet despite these staggering numbers, most people have never received any formal education about how their sitting habits affect their health. We believe that education is the most powerful tool for change. When people understand the science behind how they sit—and discover research-backed alternatives like ergonomic seating, active sitting techniques, dynamic workstation setups, and simple movement breaks—they can make informed choices that dramatically improve their quality of life. Our goal is to make this knowledge free, accessible, and actionable for everyone, regardless of income, location, or background.

Our Mission

To educate individuals, families, and workplaces about ergonomic wellness and healthier sitting habits through free workshops, evidence-based guides, and community outreach programs—so that everyone has the knowledge and tools to reduce pain, improve posture, and build a healthier relationship with how they sit and move every day. We pursue this mission through three core pillars: Education—providing free resources and guides grounded in peer-reviewed research; Community Outreach—bringing workshops and programs to schools, workplaces, and underserved communities; and Advocacy—working to promote ergonomic standards and workplace policies that protect people’s long-term musculoskeletal health. Everything we do is guided by four core values: we are science-based, community-driven, universally accessible, and always innovating.

Why This Work Matters

ErgoLife Foundation was born from a simple but urgent realization: the way most people sit is slowly damaging their health, and almost nobody is talking about it. Chronic back pain affects an estimated 619 million people globally, and the numbers are rising every year. In the United States alone, back pain is the leading cause of disability for people under 45, costing the economy over $100 billion annually in healthcare expenses and lost productivity. Yet despite these staggering numbers, most people have never received any formal education about how to sit properly, how to set up an ergonomic workstation, or what alternatives exist to promote healthier posture and movement throughout the day. We founded ErgoLife to close that gap—to create a world where ergonomic education is as fundamental and accessible as nutrition guidance or physical fitness resources.

Our approach is built on a straightforward theory of change: education leads to awareness, awareness leads to action, and action leads to lasting health improvements. When a person learns that taking a five-minute movement break every hour can reduce their risk of chronic pain by up to 40%, they start doing it. When an employer discovers that ergonomic workplace interventions reduce injury claims by 60%, they invest in better setups for their teams. When a school administrator learns that children who move more during the day perform better academically, they begin to rethink classroom furniture and seating arrangements. Knowledge is the catalyst for all of these changes, and our job is to make sure that knowledge reaches everyone who needs it—not just those who can afford expensive consultations or premium equipment.

As a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, every resource we create, every workshop we deliver, and every guide we publish is available completely free of charge. We are funded entirely by donations and grants, which means our work is driven by impact—not profit. Our vision extends far beyond any single product or solution. We are building a movement for ergonomic wellness that encompasses everything from workplace design and classroom furniture to home office setups, daily movement habits, and community health programs. We partner with physical therapists, ergonomic researchers, occupational health experts, and educators to ensure that everything we share is grounded in science and practical enough for anyone to implement. Every person we educate brings us one step closer to a world where chronic pain from poor sitting habits becomes a thing of the past.
